Former New York Giants draft pick Sam Beal remains missing nearly 15 months after his family last heard from him in the Virginia Beach area. The 29-year-old defensive back was last seen on July 12, 2025, when he dropped his girlfriend off at a relative’s house and borrowed her vehicle. Beal spoke with her for the final time the following day, stating he was preparing to drive home.

Investigators later recovered the borrowed vehicle in Virginia Beach with Beal’s shoes and socks inside, along with sand on the passenger-side floorboard. Authorities noted that Beal had no personal belongings with him aside from his driver’s license, banking card, and a pair of slides. His sister, Essence Zhane, recently shared the official missing persons report on social media to renew public attention on the case, expressing the heavy emotional toll the ongoing search has placed on their family over the past year.

Selected by New York in the third round of the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft, Beal faced early career setbacks when a shoulder injury sidelined him for his entire rookie campaign. He ultimately appeared in nine games with three starts for the franchise between 2018 and 2021, after opting out of the 2020 season under league COVID-19 protocols. He later pleaded guilty to firearm and drug charges in June 2021 before the organization released him later that year.
Local law enforcement agencies continue to request that anyone with information regarding Beal’s disappearance contact the Virginia Beach Police Department. The investigation remains open as detectives and family members seek answers to resolve his whereabouts.
